Free Scuba Course
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How do I know if scuba diving is for me?

Start in the swimming pool. If you're comfortable breathing underwater and don't have problems equalizing, then diving is for you. Equalizing is also commonly experienced when riding an aircraft. As the plane ascends and cabin pressure mounts you will feel a "pop" in your ears. This is because your ears are adjusting or equalizing to the external pressure. If you are unable or find it hard to achieve this, then diving may not be for you.

  • Why are you giving free scuba courses?

Scuba diving is my passion. Preservation and conservation of the seas is my reward everytime I get a student certified. That's why our motto is "Save the seas, be a diver". I produce a FREE scuba diving tv show for the past 13 years after I retired at 40, telecast over NBN-4 entitled "Unlimited Diving" which is also my website -- unlimiteddiving.com and mirror-site freescubacourse.com.

  • What's the difference between CMAS and PADI?

The "Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques" (CMAS) is the World Underwater Federation. CMAS is the international umbrella organisation for recreational diver training organisations. It also operates a third (Scientific) committee that promotes recreational diver awareness of and involvement in underwater science pursuits and marine conservation. It was founded in Monaco in 1959 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau who is widely refered to as the inventor of SCUBA [Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus] as a non-profit organization. As such, it is one of the world's oldest scuba diving organizations.[Wikipedia]

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) is the world's largest commercial recreational diving membership and diver training organization founded in 1966 by John Cronin and Ralph Erickson in the US. [Wikipedia] Since it is a business or for-profit, getting a PADI certification is more expensive.

The bottom line is -- it doesn't matter who the licensing body is as long as it's accepted anywhere you go to enjoy diving. For me, as long as you can do the skills with confidence and knows the golden rule -- NEVER HOLD YOUR BREATH, you will be a safe diver.

  • How do I start?

Contact us to schedule your orientation and pool lessons. There are various ways to get in-touch with us -- email through our website or you can "like" us on Facebook and post your message including your name, cellphone no. and preferred course date on our wall. We will respond with confirmation of your pool and open-water session schedule.

Meanwhile, download and read the scuba diving book [for free], this will greatly facilitate learning and passing the certification exams.

  • You said it's Free Scuba Course. Are there any hidden charges?

There are no hidden charges. You are actually saving over 10k on what a regular instructor will charge [which makes them really mad because we do it for FREE] and you even get Scuba Diving book for free which PADI charges up to a $100. However, you need to pay for the incidentals such as your food, equipment rental, tanks, dive boat and your choice of certification when you pass the course We have a package cost of 8k for all these incidentals.

  • Why do I need to pay more if I decide to take the PADI course instead of CMAS?

First reason is you need to buy the books or modules unlike CMAS where we provide it for free. Second reason, PADI is a for-profit organization. They have invested so much money on marketing and advertising for their popularity, you pay extra money for the branding. On the other hand, CMAS is non-profit as aforementioned which charges minimal fees to cover actual costs.

  • Where do I do my pool sessions and open water dives?

If you are not in a rush, we do pool lessons in Manila either at my house in Quezon City or in sports clubs like Valle Verde Country club and Celebrity Sports Club. Then we meet you at Punta Fuego located in Nasugbu, Batangas for your open water dives. We normally teach on weekends [Saturday and Sunday] starting at 8am till 5pm. If you are at least 2 students, any day can be scheduled.

  • Are there any requirements?

    - must be 10 years old or older
    - must have basic swimming ability
    - must have satisfactory health

  • Why in Nasugbu and not in Anilao?

    - Nasugbu has a lot of white sand beaches, perfect for
beginners unlike Anilao which is very rocky.
    - Better resorts such as Punta Fuego, Canyon Cove and Maya-Maya.
    - There are no strong currents just like swimming in a pool.

  • What should I do in order to pass the course?

    - Read the book and answer the exams that we provide in our website.
    - Learn all the basic scuba diving skills.
    - Be confident [brave] and comfortable breathing underwater.
    - Finally and the most important thing is to be able to EQUALIZE.
Note: Never dive when you have colds and running nose.

  • They say, you get what you pay for. If it's a free course I might not learn the proper way. Is this true?

Absolutely not true as far as we are concerned. You will only be certified if you have actually learned the skills required by CMAS or PADI and pass the exams.

Scuba diving is just like any other sports. The more you dive, the better you become -- not only as a good diver but a SAFE diver. Most instructors teach different techniques -- like mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, share air or CESA, etc. So who is correct? Every instructor is right as long as you were able to learn and do all the skills [ex. removing the fog out of your mask].

Bottom line is, it's how often you dive that will hone your skills and make you a SAFE diver. This is the reason why you need to take a refresher course if you have not been diving the last 6 months.

  • What association do you recommend CMAS or PADI?

Both are certifying organizations recognized worldwide. So, it doesn't really matter as long as you actually learn to dive. We teach both courses anyway. Take your pick or better yet do your own research on the Internet.

  • When do I get my scuba diving license?

Takes about 7 working days after you have submitted to us your exams, registration form and 2x2 photo.

Good luck and enjoy scuba diving!
